We started with wallet cases for iPhones, but often heard from consumers that they wanted something thinner. The Timberline Case for iPhone is our favorite take on the wood iPhone case, with a reinforced twist. Like our woodline cases, it offers a slim and easy fit for everyday travels near and far. The Timberline stands apart, however, by offering added protection through its polycarbonate reinforcement. It’s a wood iPhone case sure to please and protect daily.

Jony Ive’s smooth narration introduced Apple users to the glossiest iPhone on the market. Apple merged science and art with the innovative design of the Jet Black color option for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Yet, with it, came the news that the jet black edition attracted scratches far quicker than the other options. With that in mind, we’ve curated products, tips, and tricks to protect the glossy shine of your jet black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and keep it clean.
We found a perfect way to represent our Midwest pride with the Leather Lowry Cuff for Apple Watch Series 1 & 2. With rugged but soft leather, it easily forms to the wearer’s wrist while offering a modern callback to traditional watches and it’s hand finished rugged stitching creates a relaxed strap that can easily be worn from the office to a night out with ease. In addition to being amazingly cool, this is a leather Apple Watch band that has some interesting origins too…
Here at Pad & Quill, we definitely have a soft spot for our home city of Minneapolis. It’s called the “mini apple” for good reason, with a huge theatre scene, obsession with food on a stick and green space stretching for literal miles, it’s the New York of the Midwest with a whole lot more ‘you betcha’. Enter a line of leather Apple watch bands, made in the heart of Minnesota. While the Lowry Cuff for Apple Watch offers a sturdy full-bodied strap, the Lowry Leather Band for Apple Watch Series 1 & 2 comes with a slimmer feel and clean finish. With its classic look and traditional leather techniques, you’ll forget it’s holding a micro-computer and not a Timex.
Here at Pad & Quill, we consistently strive to be Terminator of Apple watch bands in terms of toughness and durability (not in terms of causing an evil apocalypse, though). With the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 2 and it’s ability to spit out water, there was some general excitement. However, most people were waiting for something bigger and reacted like this:

When we found out we could get our hands on a select stock of vintage leather from Europe, we didn’t just buy a little bit of it, we bought it all. Hailing from the 1950s with a beautiful patina color we created a leather Apple Watch cuff that will mold to your wrist and age with you and your watch. The Limited Edition 60 Year Luxury Leather Lowry Cuff for Apple Watch Series 1 & Series 2 comes from the time of Elvis, The Civil Rights Movement, and the Lindy and stands out as a cuff meant to last for years to come.
Mr. PQ and I wish for the Quills to be well rounded and to neither hold back nor be held back from exploring all the facets of their personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. At times this has called for a little Mrs. PQ “mom nudge”, like signing the 5th grader up for tackle football league, knowing that linemen don’t need so much coordination and team sports shouldn’t be defined by the ball hogs and the hyper-athletes who rule the soccer field at recess.
Being a neighbor is somewhat inevitable; unless you are the Unabomber holed up in a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere. I think we can all agree that there are some neighbors we like to have close enough to wave to, but not so close that you need to actually talk to them, and some neighbors you would donate a kidney to, even if it’s for their 3rd cousin twice removed.
Be it the post-WWII tiny boxes neighborhoods or the post Y2K cubicle office spaces or the annoying people who insist you maintain them as a Facebook “friend”, you are going to have neighbors.
The new iPhone 7 & 7 Plus may not even be announced yet, but already we are already seeing iPhone 7 cases and covers being released into the wild. What can we learn about the new iPhone from the leaked case images?
One would never describe Mr. PQ as a meandering soul, he is the prototypical entrepreneur driven by vision and optimizing resources in order to succeed. Our youngest son would never be described as “outdoorsy”. He has been known to decry our walks in the woods as a form of medieval torture and has been known to cry out, “why would anyone do this to themselves on purpose?” He is his father’s son. Unfortunately, while his soul may indeed be half robot, the other half tends towards the meandering kind, wandering Walden, albeit the latter appears a deeply recessive gene.
The iPad Pro is one awesome tablet. Whether you have the 12.9 or the 9.7, both are powerhouses and workhorses replete with refinement and classy design. A few of the best iPad accessories can really kick it up another notch, though. Check out this list of essential iPad Pro accessories to get the most out of your new tablet.
For whatever reason, in spite of the overall square footage of the PQ house, our entire lives seem to be lived in about 200 square feet of living space, aka the kitchen and den. It’s no wonder then that Mr. and Mrs. PQ feel the somewhat frequent urge to rent a hotel room for the night. Twenty-six years of marriage has taught us that sometimes you’ve got to go crazy. First, the fact that we view a night in a hotel as “crazy” is a bit disconcerting, however, the fact that we still want to get away together generally outweighs any consternation.
There’s nothing in the world like leather. It’s been used for thousands of years as a textile to create durable, protective, and fantastic looking goods. It is a time-honored material and turning it into useable objects has been honed into an art that is like none other.
However, if you are anything like us when we started this journey, we had no idea about leather grades, quality, tanning processes, or how to tell a good piece of leather from a cleverly painted piece of scrap hide.
The truth is, not all leather is created equal. When buying a fine leather bag, leather jacket, wallet, iPad Case, or anything else, knowledge is power. Many so-called “leathers” are not what they appear to be. So this series will explore the amazing world of leather so you can avoid getting burned next time you are in the market for some great leather goods.
Apple’s iPhone 7 is almost here, and the rumor mill is churning faster than ever. New color options, professional quality dual cameras, smart connectors, and a third option of an iPhone Pro… We’ve rounded up all the juicy rumors for the iPhone 7 just for you. So take a break from playing Pokemon Go for a few minutes and see what the future has in store. One thing is for sure, though, the iPhone 7 will unfortunately not look like the above picture.
A wallet is likely the most important piece of every day carry you have. It contains some of your most essential items. However, most of us carry way to many unnecessary things in our wallets. Here is a list of the 6 most essential things to keep in your wallet, the 6 most important things to NOT carry in your wallet, and 5 things you might never have thought of carrying until now…
A leather wallet is one piece of any male’s wardrobe that is indispensable. The average man keeps his wallet for 7-10 years. Over that time a wallet will become like a close friend. You carry it every day and it molds to you, it adapts to your hands, takes on its own personality, and becomes a part of your identity.
So what should you look for when buying a quality leather wallet for men? What is it that makes a wallet the best leather wallet in terms of quality and style?
Here are a few things to look for when buying a wallet that will be with you for the next decade.
At Pad & Quill, we use very high-quality full-grain bridle leathers in all our bags and leather iPhone and iPad cases. Full-grain leather is an amazing thing, it is extra thick, super durable, and among the highest quality of leather available. Our full-grain leather is of the “pull-up leather” variety. This leather has waxes, dyes, and oils deeply impregnated in it instead of being painted or coated with color. This process gives the leather a beautifully rich color & depth. You will find this leather used on the highest quality couches, leather jackets, boots, and of course, our all of our leather bags.
However, not everybody likes scratches on their leather, or maybe there are one or two unsightly scratches you want to remove. Read on for our tips on removing scratches from leather, and how to get scratches out of pull up leather.
Spring has fully sprung up here in the frozen tundra, and that means one thing for me, destruction of IOS devices. I set a land speed record this year, shattering my iPhone 6s two times in 10 days. Mr. PQ has abandoned me as a product tester for our new Timberline cases. As using and giving feedback on our products is part of my job description, I am compelled to tote my iPhone and Apple Watch everywhere I go, including on a rigorous walk with Bear, the PQ mascot, my friend Angie and her dog Mason.
Here at Pad & Quill we make cases and bookbindery covers for iPads, iPhones etc, so we want you to judge our books by their cover. This is not an adage to live one’s life by though, as has often been admonished in our collective history. So, when a young, black, highly tattooed, youth approached me this morning, asking if there was any work he could do for me for pay, quickly demonstrating his willingness to pull weeds or mow, I pushed aside my little mama bear radar that perks up in every stranger situation.
“Mom, did you know it rains diamonds on Neptune?”
I turned 48 last week and a particularly kind friend of mine was insistent that I celebrate another year, in spite of my routine and annual desire to pretend that day does not exist.
Frayed iPhone cables, broken iPhone cords, and non-syncing iPhone charger cables are the bane of every Apple user everywhere since the dawn of the smartphone. Here are our top 5 tips & tricks to repair and protect iPhone charger cords and keep them from breaking in the first place.
In lieu of Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice coming out, it felt like the right time to finally discuss something that DC Comics and Marvel seem to be ignoring. How do superheroes keep their phones in one piece?
When you can run at the speed of light, lift a building and dismantle just about any robot, how in the world do you keep your phone from not breaking into a million pieces? Maybe it’s just me but I feel like spandex, leather, and lycra don’t leave much pocket space to boot.
But being the comic book owning, media fanatic with a collection of superhero onesies, I felt it only appropriate to delve into exactly how superheroes go about using, storing and keeping their phones safe.
The iPad has long been a favorite device here at PQ headquarters. It is the tablet that launched our company, and it remains near and dear to our heart down to this day. When the first iPad Pro came out, we pulled out all the stops and decided to use the new 12.9″ tablet as our primary computing device for running the company as an experiment. It went reasonably well. So when the iPad Pro 9.7 came out, we decided to try the same thing.
With their newest tablet, Apple is aiming to appeal to 2 different customer sets at the same time. On the one hand, they want to entice previous generation iPad owners to upgrade to the newest version. On the other hand, they are trying to appeal to the desktop and laptop users, specifically PC users, in order to get them to use an iPad as their primary computing device. By giving it the ‘Pro’ moniker, it is also indicative that they want this device to appeal to a professional user base as well. On some fronts, they have succeeded with flying colors. However, there is still some room for iOS to grow. Read on for our full review of the iPad Pro 9.7.
An iPhone is an extension of yourself, it is an outward manifestation of our inner being. It is also a giant germ magnet that has been known to harbor more bacteria than a toilet seat. Let’s face it, even the best iPhone case around can’t protect your iPhone from getting dirty. So for all you clean freaks out there, here’s our comprehensive guide on how to clean every part of your iPhone from home button to headphone jack and make it shine like new.
